They are supposed to be built in honour of Anush-khan by his father, the famous historian Abulgazi-khan (1644-1664). Interesting are their heating, water supply and sewer systems. They consist of a lobby, changing rooms and washing rooms like typical oriental bathhouses. The bathhouses have a basement with an underground heating system, which allows for the preservation of heat. Only their skylight domes are visible outwardly. www.arxiv.uz

Djuma Mosque and Minaret The cathedral mosque of Khiva, otherwise known as Djuma-Mosque, is located in Ichan-Qala on the road leading from the gates of Palvan-darva-za to Ata- darvaza. It is a typically archaic mosque with a flat ceiling on columns which has no analogue in Central Asia. www.arxiv.uz

Ichan-Kala Ichan-Qala (literally "internal fortress") forms the internal city of Khiva. The borders of Khiva coincided with that in the 16th- 17th centuries. The clay wall over 2,200 m in length and 7-8 m in height surrounded Ichan-Qala. The wall was fortified with semicircular towers. The embattled gallery went along the top of wall. Defensive walls of Ichan-Qala reliably protected Khiva down to invasion of Nadir-shah in the middle of 18th century. Iranian troops took Khiva and fortification system was partly destroyed. Khiva had expanded at the Qungrad dynasty. By the 20th century its area had been fifteen times as much as Ichan- Qala. Ichan-Qala, the historical center of Khiva, was inscribed into UNESCO World Heritage List. There are more than sixty architectural monuments: palaces, mosques, madrassahs, minarets and mausoleums. www.arxiv.uz

Citadel Kukhne Ark – the most ancient populated territory of Khiva. Upon investigation of this place by historians there were found evidences of powerful cultural stratifications . There are assumptions that in time here in the territory in 1 hectare there was a construction which served subsequently as the beginning of the basis for Khiva city. Madrasah Muhammad Aminkhan is located to the South from Kukhne Ark. This construction is situated in historical part of Ichan - Kala, that is the biggest madrasah not only Khiva, but in all Central Asia. The madrasah represents a two-storeyed building which is set on area of 60 on 72 meters. There available 125 hudjras – cells which are calculated on 260 students in the building. Dishan-Kala At the beginning of the twentieth century a hospital was built in Dishan-kala. Its construction was evidence of the new care for the people's health taken by the Khiva Khan. Whereas previously, the people saw only ta-bibs, here professional doctors treated the sick. www.arxiv.uz

Minaret of Palvan-Kari The minaret of Palvan-Kari is located in the eastern part of Dishan-Qala, in a street running from the Palvan-darvaza gates by the complex of Seyid-biy. This is a rare type of straight cylindrical minaret, differing from traditional Khorezm minarets, whose diameter normally diminishes with height. www.arxiv.uz

Kalta-Minor A short, yet enormous, minaret stands before the facade of the Muhammad Amin-khan Madrassah. This is Kalta-Minor - the "Short minaret". The minaret and Muhammad Amin-khan Madrassah were intended to finish the plan of the big square near the western gates of Ichan-Qala. Kalta-Minor should have become the biggest and highest minaret in Central Asia. Its massive base is 14.2 m in diameter. However, construction was interrupted upon the death of Muhammad-Amin-khan in 1855 after a battle with the Turkmen as historian Munis reported. www.arxiv.uz
